Re: I see that the AMDroids, armed with their "AMD far exceeds Intel mantra", based on 2 quarters of actual AMD earnings, have overrun this thread. This, combined with their overrunning of the Rambus thread, and the Motley Fool and Raging Bull Intel threads, and it's AMDroids everywhere! Might as well pack it in, if you're Intel, I guess. Same thing has happened on the Cisco thread...>50% bear posts for quite a while. AMD, the little Sanders engine that could.

Tony,

These AMDroids sicken me. I'd really like it if they left Intel and Rambus alone. The last thing I want is Intel management to start getting pressure over the Rambus decision. I wish the AMDroids would just sit back and let the Intel management carry on its merry ways with Rambus.

I don't mind so much their enthusiasm considering how long they have waited for something to be proud about. I'm an AMD long myself. But some of them have gone around the bend.

Trying to be objective here, it would be expected that AMD's newest processor should offer a performance advantage over CuMine and I think when the smoke clears that will be apparent from objective benchmarks. What I think will also be apparent is how small that advantage is considering the larger cache and supposedly 7.5 generation design.

Remember the days when IBM was coming out with the PowerPC? How new and advanced it was supposed to be? How x86 was so old and so hopelessly out of date that it couldn't possible keep up with this remarkable design from the combined genius of IBM Moto and Apple? I think AMDroids did much the same when they talked their new generation up so much they are having real trouble with the reality which is frankly quite disappointing.

Tony, re: AMD folks

They sure are a vocal bunch. They have about convinced me that Intel will soon not be able to sell another microprocessor 'cause AMD is faster, cheaper, and doesn't use the evil Rambus memory. Intel management, the guys who invented the category that AMD is playing in, are a bunch of bumbling idiots. Intel is dead meet in desktop, will be distroyed in the server business, and mobile is a lost cause. There are no Intel chips anywhere because AMD folks can't find them. Willy just won't happen, if it does it'll be in 2005, and the sucker will be slow, and won't scale. Intanium is too little too late. The new businesses are all money losers.

On the other hand AMD has the flamboyant genius Mr. Sanders. The product implementation is flawless, their yields are great, Dresden is revolutionary, Copper is the best thing since silicon. The Athlon will scale to 10,000 MHz (in fact they could do it now, they just don't want to). DDR is going to take over the world any day (bankrupting Rambus) and will be so cheap people will use the chips for toothpicks. Nothing will ever go wrong, and the stock will go to $1000 as soon as everybody realizes all of the above. Nothing is priced into the stock.

Makes you wonder where all those Intel $Billions in sales and profits come from, opps forgot, Intel is also cooking the books.

John
