a couple of windows from the tenth floor.
There is a lot more information than that. There are a lot, hundreds, of fossils of hominids of various eras. More are being found all the time, mostly because the scientists have a much better idea where to look (i.e. bones are more likely preserved at the bottom of an ancient lake or under a layer of volcanic ash than in the ancient plains where they would have been eaten). The real excitement now is in statistical studies in the variation of DNA. Not only can the current population be sampled, but DNA has been extracted and analysed from Neandertal bones, and the various surviving apes and chimps. To use your example, it's as if we have many of the windows plus most of the steel supporting structure.
