The markets would promptly sell off GBLX regardless of synergies and probably drive the stock into the teens

This eventuality is likely to be considered in advance by ENT mgmt. Considering issue is already at a market cap of $10BB, why should they take $10BB in stock from GBLX--a currency they can expect to depreciate upon receipt? That is one of the reasons for requiring a premium in an acquisition. Given GBLX's depleted market cap, I doubt they have the headroom to make the risk/reward ratio appealing to ENT.

06:38 AM DJ France Telecom Chmn/Equant -2: CNBC Interview >ENT

LONDON (Dow Jones)--France Telecom (FTE) Chairman Michel Bon said Wednesday that there are "no negotiations" between his company and data services carrier Equant NV (ENT) about a potential takeover.

Bon was speaking in a television interview with CNBC Europe.

His comment follows media speculation this week that France Telecom was among the companies looking at a near $10-billion purchase of Equant, which would fit well with its Global One business communications unit.

U.S. telecommunications group Global Crossing Inc. (GBLX), which declined to comment Tuesday, was also said to be in merger discussions with Equant.
