G Rig- Don't forget, there is MMDS and then there is LMDS. Both are referred to as, "Fixed Broadband Wireless," technologies. I'm mixing them up below.

Well here's some service providers(SP): WCII, TGNT, and a potential biggy is Sprint/MCI Worldcom. Plus there are about a dozen or so SPs in Europe and another dozen in North America. Do a SI search on my Newbridge(Alcatel just bought them) comments and most are listed or Newbridge used to have a handy dandy search engine on their website to drill down to LMDS. If so, then you can get an idea of a lot of the smaller players.

And here's some equipment players: ALA/NN 'claim' to be the leaders. There's ADCT with a presence in MMDS. Plus some smaller guys, VSAT, ADAP, HYBR, and NTRO. I think LU does a re-sell of someone's product but I don't recall who. And then CSCO is involved pretty heavily. And I know there are others too. But I think these are the main players.

Anyone feel free to correct me. I wouldn't mind adding to my watch list. HTH. -MikeM(From Florida)

Gayle, You may be interested in exploring a relatively
new & ignored LMDS & MMDS company at these URLs ..http://www.wi-lan.com/first.html
wi-lan.com

At this site also, you will find links to the new OFDM
Alliance or Forum, which consists of a large number of companies, EG Nokia, Philips, and Ericsson who are interested in a common OFDM standard for LMDS & MMDS.

BTW they have just announced their joint Philips / Wi-Lan
ASIC for Wideband versions of OFDM, for those services.

Cisco and associated companies have introduced a Vector version of OFDM, and is scheduled to introduce ASICS in
the future, I am told.

You may want to review some posts on the Wi-Lan thread as well, on SI at Subject 19267
and at clubs.yahoo.com

Mardy
