dale sinor: I knew I should not have posted on this subject tonight, as I do not have the time to debate this subject or even discuss it on the level I am sure you are accustom.

I will just throw the following out, productivity should not be looked at in a vacuum. What is done with the productivity gains is just as important as the gains themselves.

Yep, the early adopters of the technology enjoy large margins (if you ignore huge cap-ex and er: R&D), but when everyone finally gets it, competition insures that margins contract until the next "new new thing".
