CNBC giving conflicting signals. First they say they are going to have knowledgeable experts talking about OPEC. A few minutes later Maria says they will have ANALysts on to talk about OPEC. Which is it: knowledgeable persons or analysts?

Oil and gas stocks are destined to move sharply higher, analysts say, despite strong gains in the past few months. The Toronto Stock Exchange oil & gas subindex is up 43% since it bottomed at 5380 in February but with the price of crude near a post Gulf War high and gas near a four-year peak, it can go higher still.

Market watchers have been raising their earnings and price targets for the Canadian oilpatch. Analysts at UBS Bunting Warburg Inc. boosted their average oil price forecast for 2000 from US$26.50 a barrel to US$28
