It is in this condition because, like the mainstream conscious it has become uncool to judge and impose restrictions on persons who are unable to control themselves according to societal standards. We now support the most contemptuous people to live out their wildest fantacies in American institutions. Many people who went into prison with a fairly remedial problem come out hardened and devient. Many are harmed seriously, even murdered by these people you don't want to take responsibility for. Giving them a life to live in one of our institutions however is taking responsibility for their conditions and those they hurt. Congratulations your own self.
