To the thread,
The recent personal attacks, insults, and bickering have overwhelmed this board, which used to be a great place to debate and learn about both pro and anti-Microsoft views. If you're interested in helping the board return to an exchange of Microsoft related information, I have the following proposal:

Ignore posts that are:
> personal attacks responding to these mostly just wastes everyone's time. if you really must respond, why not send private messages?

> repetitive, tiresome statements if you've already read the same thing ad nauseum from the same person, try ignoring them, with no reinforcement, they often look for it elsewhere

> really, really stupid posts this is obviously a fine line, but please think twice before responding to them. others will recognize their lack of value

> attempts to start a pi**ing match sometimes it's interesting to learn what people have done, but there's no need to belittle someone else's achievements. it won't make yours more significant

Try to post more:
> news or information about Microsoft one way to improve signal to noise is to boost just the signal

> new opinions or new, reliable information to support opinions I for one would like to hear more reasoned opinions whether pro or anti Microsoft.

> posts that respect others reasoned opinions, whether pro or anti-Microsoft this can really be a self-reinforcing behavior

I'll be the first to admit that I've not always followed everything I suggest here. I will do my best going forward to do so. It really doesn't matter if everyone follows these guidelines. A significant number of us can make the difference.

Thanks,
Mike
