I think so.

I used to want to fry the very violent part of the prison population but now, knowing what I know, I do not.

For example, a defense attorney in certain areas (assigned by the courts) gets 1500 for a capital case. Any good lawyer in my part of the country who goes to work for a law firms is getting over 100k to start, right out of law school.

When I was working 10 years ago as a law student for a large firm I was billed out at 85 or 120 an hour- I can't remember which.

Now how good will the representation be for the poor SOB that gets a lawyer who gets 1500 to prepare a whole capital case? That's 15 hours at 100 an hour.

Then think about the man hours in OJ's case.

That is merely one angle of my problem with the death penalty- there are many others, some we have discussed. But this one I hadn't really brought up in detail.
