I frankly do not know if ABX hopes to scoop up the assets of competitors at bargain basement prices.

My guess is that they are true believers in the gold bear case so widely accepted in the investment community today.

<<Do you think there is any validity to that argument?>>

(in regards to)

<<The major criticism of ABX I've heard is that they are committed
to a low POG so they can scoop up the reserves of the 2nd
and third tier gold companies on the cheap.>>

In my opinion your time frame is too short,
as I would ask this type of reference to the
practices of Barrick through the question.

"If gold is successfully trashed in a way
that GATA has identified as an objective
by those forces engaged, then the price of gold
would collapse for a long time span like 5 years,
and during this period, consolidation of all under
the ground reserves would end up in 3 or 2 or 1
company, and if one, then it would be Barrick ABX.

With that happening, and knowing that gold being trashed
always leads to a unrestricted fiat paper only currency
with no store of value as backing, that it will collapse
and gold return to a high valuation. And then at that time
Barrick would then hold "all" under ground reserves,
and the company Barrick would be better off then
comparied to a pro GATA outcome.

As for GATA's case to identify the ones behind
any criminal activity, that information is not part
of the GATA presented to the public, as currently
only the Washington D.C. and Roll Call and contacts
with gold produces and contact with supporters
do not fall under "need to know".

Stay tuned and down the road Barrick as a company
will crumble and officers will fall and shareholders
will suffer, my speculation and guess.

Need to know, this thread has not.
