Eric L: You are right there with what is needed, to round out, and in this case complete, the story. Cooperation at its best. Now Uncle Frank has it all, as do others here. Most helpful of you. Best and thanks. Cha2

Eric L: Re this: "That means cdma2000 could become a "technology island" if, as expected, Japanese carriers like DDI go to the Universal Mobile Telecommunications System, the European implementation of 3G. "

Since DDI has stated clearly that it will use CDMA 2000 for 3rd gen, this is to put it politely disengenous, less politely, a lie. Perhaps he is a Synder clone. But the substance is simply wrong.

Otherwise, agree that the article is very much to the point.

On a personal note, the London news on "smart cards" seems positive for roaming and specifically for CDMA, but you are the expert, what thinkest thou?

Best.
