olduvai5 is a fun name. How did you come up with it?
Thank you for your timely response on Friday. Its great to be able to be talking to someone who works for TER.
If asking you to provide these is not too much of an intrusion, what is your $ amount for last quarter's 1.58 backlog increase and what where the public numbers and sources from which it was calculated? Its easier for me to add to temporairly down positions (I have low 3 figure shares at 86.48, but am open to building a position of low 4 figure shares if the intra and inter day stock charts improve) at points of support when I have a 94% or better confidence in the fundamentals that I know and confidence in my command of Wall Street's current surprise scenario (i.e. on Friday, the Soxx was up strong but the Semi was down). The April 18 Ter press release* showed orders of $1,024 bill vs. 1st quarter '99 of $444M. I believe this is an increase of about 1.3 ((1024-444)/444)) or 580/444). Was yours a quarter to quarter calculation?
Value Line's 4.21 report, which did not include 1st quarter results, indicated that the December backlog was 980M. It also had low, and probably revised by the July issue, figures for 00 earnings of $2.30 and revenues of $2.65B.
And, if possible could you please help me with the calculations on the 4B year and the ideas that 00 revenues will soon equal last year's which VL presented as $1791B.
The 1.58 you calculated is substantially above the Semi Equipment Association's latest figures of 1.46 and 1.42 but the 1.42 is the leveling off rather than up month for many months.
Thanks for your time in responding to my thoughts.
Do you or anyone else remember what Goldman-Sachs had to day about Ter when it put it on a special list? What other company's were put on the list? When was this done.

*Ter's web site is extremely investor friendly but the 4.18 "good news" earnings/revenues press release is the most "conservative" one I have ever seen.
