Ron what i am saying this particular economy of ours is very segmented it really only benefited the upper income group.
The buying power for the lower end was increased due to cost becoming less in certain items but the overal income did not increase as the cost of living has.

i am terribly perplexed right now as to what will happen. I envision in the the near future a slow down in employment. I also feel we are close to max on property here in LA upper end. Lower end did not move in sinc and interest rates have risen, this reduces buying ability on lower end. Apartments rents rose and you aren't going see a reduction in rents until you see a surplus property. ( highly unlikely here)

What it appears to me is you have inflation at the low end that just might be to great for that end to bear and over extend at the top. Just how that is going to play out i don't know.

Because we are so globally exposed and connected it is very difficult to access exactly what the damage could be or won't be.

As far as gas goes, JIT has a cost called transport.
