OT: <I never really considered it a reason to sell-off all any stocks and go to cash and gold. I may be mistaken, but I seem to recall that you were taking that radical approach to Y2K.>

You are mistaken. I never went exclusively to cash and gold. I went pretty ballistic investing in semi conductor stocks and some wireless stocks like PUMA after I got my Palm and Wireless Connection with Bell Atlantic early last fall. I left the Y2K threads for the most part after the summer because I got turned off by the certainty that many people had on those threads that a disaster was imminent. Moreover, I never advocated that people build a shelter and go underground. I thought that was extreme, to say the least. All we did was buy canned food and water, which would last 6-9 months. What are you still harping on Y2K for? Ken was mostly entertainment for me. You get so wrapped up and easily offended in a war of words with people on these threads. I just say my peace, ask certain people for clarification on issues and move on. FYI, I was viciously attacked by certain people on this thread and called Poly many times over for becoming wildly bullish last fall. You think I cared or was offended in the least? I laughed all the way to the bank. This guy Taurus was viciously attacking me every other day for months for being bullish. By the time he turned bullish, the tech stocks literally topped out. I was also called the contrarian indicator by George Cole for turning insanely bullish on tech last fall. HA! HA! I made a fortune. I may be bearish fundamentally speaking but flexibility is my middle name and I am no prisoner to my principles or ideology. I go into the Nothingness of the Night in Descarte's first meditation every day and viciously criticize my principles and reevaluate my positions daily.

Although I may be quite controversial in some of my views, I have never gotten suspended by SI or even received a warning in my 3 years posting. Some have called me a politician, but the Truth is I would never lower myself to the level of crudity or viciously attack anyone for a different point of view than mine. It is not my style. I have a firm grasp of limits.

PS Time Warner's Road Runner cable service was down throughout NYC for the past 4 hours till recently.

But now, let's take my "What if?" scenario to its logical conclusion. Let's say that the Federal Reserve hasn't just succeeded in slowing the economy -- that Alan Greenspan & Co. have, in fact, stomped too hard on the brakes
