Belive me I am the last to be happy about this situation but point the finger to YOUR Administration.

Good analysis Haim...

While I agree that excessive demand is the major culprit, OPEC's control of production has aggravated the situation... As for pointing fingers, they should really be pointed at those companies impeding the move from fossil fuels to alternate energy forms, elec etc... There's trillions of dollars at stake for the oil companies... What do you think they're doing to keep that money coming in... Oh no!!! Not another conspiracy theory... : >

<the Democrats in power we arrived at this dare situation.>

I am mystified as to how you can blame the democrats for the wasteful energy policy in the US.

One of the reasons the US spends so much more energy per capita than Europe and Japan is because energy taxes in the US are very low compared to Europe and Japan -- where, for example, gasoline costs more than twice as much as in the US, due to taxes.

It is the democrats that attempted to introduce and or increase energy taxes in the past, and it was republicans that invariably objected and politicized them, thus forcing the democrats to back down. Al Gore in particular attempted to introduce a BTU tax with no success a few years back.
