So you're not willing to discuss George's selling-out of his constituency to the "should" of expediency. Great. But be aware that kind of rationalization for expediency's sake is what led to Lincoln's suspension of the writ of habeas corpus against the people of this once great Republic. And I take it you prefer all un-reconstructed Southern folks to be Closet Confederates. Sure, honor your ancestors in private. Be careful who you offend. Walk on your tip toes and whisper of your pride in your heritage only to those of your ilk. Remember who you are - the victim of tyranny and revisionist history - and know your place. And, of course, the War of Northern Aggression was about slavery and nothing else. You bet. Would you be so kind as to remind me again of the number of soldiers who were slaveholders. And, yes, I'm only referring to the Southern soldiers. <I can think of nothing memorialized on government property even nearly equally offensive to anyone as the celebration of the Rebellion.> To which Rebellion do you refer? Ah, excuse me, for a moment there I thought you may have meant the Rebellion known as the American Revolution. Do you find that rebellion against tyranny and suppression offensive? Regarding what groups I have in mind who may someday protest something near and dear to your heart, just wait a while. I don't know who they are but your day may come. <No one was sensitive to this as long as the prayers were non-sectarian and everyone belonged to some congregation, but even atheist or agnostic parents have right not to have their children pressured into becoming religious............> Yes, God forbid someone be pressured into becoming a Baptist/Methodist/Catholic against his will! Are you afraid that the poor atheist/agnostic fellow would never see the error of his ways and be condemned to an eternity of Christianity? And to think it all could happen because some little fourteen-year-old Christian girl gave the morning prayer over the school PA system and the poor atheist gave in to peer pressure.
