Paul the no fan with 1 GHz Coppermine, re <<Ever wonder why you can't hear the Sludgehumper's clock ticking?>>

No I have not wonder that. It is because, as stated, it the DELAYED clock which is ticking for Merced. Sledgehammer is not delayed! Sorry if it is getting too complicated for you.

Re <<You sound awfully worried, Mani !!>>

Yes, I am. Worried and rich, works for me. Imagine what I would be if I had bought Intel instead of AMD when I started buying! Not a pretty picture! I would have MUCH less money and would be a lot more worried.

Don't worry Paul, Intel does not really need Merced, It has Timna, Timna will save Intel in about few weeks from now, you told us so!

"Since he took over National Semiconductor Corp. (NSM) in 1996, CEO Brian L. Halla has waged a sometimes lonely crusade to create a ''system on a chip''--cramming most of the functions of a PC onto one thumbnail-size sliver of silicon. Intel Corp. Chairman Andrew S. Grove dismissed it as a ''fantasy,'' "

Things change rapidly in this business.
