Maurice,

I've wondered this for a long time...why all the squealing about a measly 5% anyway? Why all the posturing, politicizing, and staring down when all we're talking about is 5%?

In my biz, or most any biz for that matter, 5% isn't make or break the business.

I'm sure some will argue that they must negotiate for lowest possible rate due to razor thin margins...but that argument just doesn't make much sense to me.

It's perplexing to me how such an issue is made over this small amount of the phones cost. They've got 95% of the phones cost to find and whittle costs down, why focus on the minutiae?

Perhaps I'm thinking about this all wrong. Or am I?

Maurice: IJ says that Q will be producing chips for WCDMA in 2001. If that's so, is WCDMA really vaporware?
