Les:

I spoke with Fred Hickey this morning, just to compare notes.

We are observing the same thing,.... a massive and pervasive reduction in RETAIL PC sales during the last two months.

Corporations stopped buying PCs last fall (as forecast) and have not shown any inclination to resume purchasing. (also as forecast). This spring, we had a remarkable binge in consumer buying that corresponded perfectly with the surging NAZ (with many of them high level machines). Now, retail buying has fallen dramatically. In the last several weeks I haven't spoken to a retailer who wasn't hurting on sales.

I think this is just another facet of the "nuclear winter" in PC sales. As you note, Emachines has warned. There will be more of this to follow.

Not that this market gives a fig about current (or future) sales. (g)

Best, Earlie
