lorne, I have not read the article "Is There A Future For The Gold Industry?", but I would like to comment using questions rather than giving opinions. 1. Of all the examples given in this article, is gold the only one that is a commodity along with a history of being a store of value of degree that a nation's Central Bank will collect it to give value to it's fiat money supply and for use in times like war when its currency might not be accepted by other people or nations? 2. That saying "Who has the gold controls..." might it apply to both the good and bad ways a government can manipulate the money and credit creation so that those in political power are accessed both by the good guys and bad guys in a battle to get control first, then carry out their agenda? If so, then knowing only a government can fully capture a nation's gold supply using what they control being the laws and police to enforce their wishes, then also knowing that if done in a corrupt manner that some governments like the usa have to accomplish this if done for a destructive purpose would have to get the cooperation of private people and companies to carry out this plan so that the governments role is keep hidden. Something like the usa government teaming up with a new york mob that does all the criminal stuff except drugs since the don has young children and he declared it off limits, so from this pairing the mob will do the dirty work and fight the illegal drug trade. Not wanting to discuss the morals of this example here as I can argue both sides. But imagine if the usa and canadian and england governments saw controlling the gold market completely to protect their sick paper money policy as a desirable, then also knowing that they could not accomplish this thru new laws, then they can realize it being done using the mob/criminal/corrupt manner. Seems like this may already be in place, as Barrick has those political folks on their board of directors and my prior mention that if the price of gold is successfully trashed lower for a couple more years, then Barrick would become like a DeBeers in diamonds, except there would be lots of strings attached both ways between Monk of ABX and governments, as each would be corrupted as selling souls to the Devil.
