Well Justa, I still don't get it. Its not Brinker property, so why should he care? I mean ABC could sell notes of the show.

How did you hear ABC is taking action? It might make for an interesting case.

Brinker objects to the sale of the summaries. If they were given away for free, I doubt if he would care in the least.

Justa you make many good points.

From what I understand, before I knew David was going to charge, I tried to get an exclusive with Korn to do his summaries for our site and we didn't have much to offer (but I made my best pitch anyway). I didn't get an exclusive. I understand he was given his own thread on the Brinker site where he could post summaries and they would not allow others to write on the thread so the thread would be just for bobbrinker.com readers and David could get famous that way. Of course, Bob Jr would get to sell advertising at $35 per 1000 impressions (that is the going rate on his site now)

David posted there for awhile then they deleted the thread when David started to sell the summaries.

My guess is he could make more from advertisement impressions than Korn makes from his readers.

They didn't seem to have a problem that the show belongs to ABC and that they can get free advertising for a website that they have advertising on. Perhaps this is part of the sweetheart deal that Bob got when he signed up for another year? Free plugs for his non DISNEY website? The point is, they wanted to make money from it and don't like the idea of others making money.

I think it would be sad for Brinker to get upset that a tiny percentage of his audience thinks enough of his words that they pay someone to take notes for them. To think that HE believes he is the only one that should profit from a great idea that someone else had is even sadder. I though Al Gore invented the internet! 8)

BTW, Suite101.com doesn't encourage OR discourage this. David Korn has actually gone out of his way to not make a big issue of it and post partial summaries to draw readers as he really likes Bob (until this happened). We ALLOW people to self promote as we want our site to be a gathering place for people with all sorts of ideas and one way to get them excited is to let them tell us what they do and why. IN that vein, David could come and promote his service on our site and we wouldn't stop it but he has not out of respect for Brinker.

BTW2. One of our members made some MP3s of a few of the shows and posted them on a homepage on our site. Some nasty noises were made about lawyers and such but no letter or lawywer or phone call was ever made to the main office asking or demanding the MP3 be removed. The guy did get scared (who needs it?) and stopped.

Ok, enough posting on this sad issue. I'm headed back to my scum of the earth friends....
