I don't believe in evil- except in a relative sense so I would agree with you about that. And death and pain certainly aren't evil imo- seems to me they are just part of the way things are.

Misery probably is inevitable, until people learn how not to be miserable- and I wonder if everyone is capable of learning that?

For a nonbeliever to try to understand belief is akin, IMO, to a man trying to understand childbirth. I have observed my wife go through it, I was there when my children were born, but I really have no understanding of the actual experience, the mystery, the pain, the joy, or the unique mother-child bond as the newborn nestles on its mother's breast.
