Eqaulity is not a political trap in every sense.

Seems to me there are different kinds of equality. After all equality is just the state of being equal. There are many ways to measure men and women. So for example testing to see if people are equally wealthy is EASY- you don't need to know any more about them than the value of their assets. But when you get to the more squishy areas like do they have equal opportunity- then you are getting into areas that are subjective- perhaps completely subjective- since elements of opportunity rely on the perception fo the person seeking opportunity.

So, you need to be more specific about what kind of equality you are talking about- and I still don't think equality and fairness are necessarily related.
