hb or anyone:

Does anyone know what Oracle Japan is? Oracle said it sold $4.9 billion stocks (12%) and owns 74% of Oracle Japan now. But I couldn't find anything in its balance sheet. Is this some kind of tracking stocks? If it is a tracking stock, then do Oracle US shareholders own Oracle, or Oracle Japan shareholders own Oracle. It's really confusing.

The author butchers the oil shale aspect, citing sources from 15 years ago. Australia's oil shale is looking like it will become a huge source. Also, the Caspian Sea holds a large reserve. Generally, though, I do agree with the author.

Tom

P.S. Blaming the economic crises of the 1970s on the oil embargoes is rather silly, too. I thought Matthew Simmons had shredded that fantasy.
