I was thinking the same thing, you beat me to it. Another way to look at it is engineers' salaries, about 10,000 of them for a full year, including a lot of overhead. Well, taxes knock it down. That's pays for a lot of chip design, still.

To me, whoever derides stock sales income is probably a fan of a company that can't afford to invest, or too stupid.
