Greetings Kemble,

Re: the ideas that DELL has for the home are mind boggling...The PC isn't exactly "dead"...

As long as we don't start seeing Dell branded refrigerators and DELL branded washing machines....

Actually, I think the concept is great. Whereas others claim the PC is dead, and want to bifurcate the pc features among other task specific appliances, I think DELL envisions the PC as the hub of all things computer controlled in the house....a fully "wired home", with pc controlled peripherals. For this, one would need a mighty strong PC, not a $399. e-machine.

Nice also to see DELL branded components. Dell wireless card; first out of the gate with their 64 MB DDR video card; and now the stereo device.

Advertising seems to be targeted at a broader audience too. NBA finals had DELL e-works comercials, and in this weeks NEWSWEEK, DELL has the back cover.

Finally something worthwhile to see at PC Expo next week. Besides the Computer Associates half court, where you win a t-shirt if you sink 2 free throws, I'll keep my eye out for the Dell/S3 Audio receiver!
