What do you do if DDR turns into a Fiasco for AMD?

What do you do if the entire Rambus management team turns out to be space aliens from Siru Minor and they get called home because the ROI on their trip to earth sucked?

Jim,

I am wondering when we will get to see two DDR platforms.

It's amazing that you have enough brain power to do any wondering, at all. If you are not ignorant, you are purposely spreading disinformation, as it is general knowledge that the entire memory industry is lining up to support DDR.

Pravin.

Jim,

You are somewhat confused. Unlike their major competitor, AMD is in no way tied to any particular type of memory. No CPU needs high bandwidth memory right now, and AMD has wisely chosen to go with the most cost efficient path. If DDR turns out to be as cheap as SDRAM, then AMD products will transition over to DDR.

It won't. If RDRAM technology proves in the long run to
be better then DDRDRAM then AMD will use RDRAM or any other memory technology that works. AMD isn't tied into a particular type of RAM. Any mistakes AMD might make in this area might set AMD back a bit but only for a few months and it would not be a fiasco.

The stock is at an all time high and if the news gets out of a major DDR platform fiasco who knows what would happen to AMD's stock price? So what do you? How about a smokescreen?

I am going to the top of a tall building and jumping. Thanks for asking.
