In any case the middleeastern cartel falsly held prices up for years.... shouldn't be much arguement about that. Wasn't the embargo just our lame attempt to fight back?

The 1973 embargo was actually helpful to this country, from an objectivist perspective. It was so dramatic that it shocked people into taking the potential for oil price rises seriously, kickstarting the oil conservation and oil drilling that were necessary to address the market fundamentals.
