How is this new offering different than the new products that AAPL are going to introduce, estimated about 1/1/01. Supposedly, the OS will have a JAVA based browser and will be supported by the XML internet language. I am not technical in IT matter but it does seem that MSFT is copying AAPL. In fact, AAPL is going to be a ASP for the consumer as ORCL will be an ASP for B to B. I do not see where MSFT fits here. Late to the party against AAPL and they do not have the scale or application programs to compete with ORCL, CMRC, SAP, etc.

Furthermore, they are now tying everything into the browser. I thought LE said this years ago. This strategy is a slap not in the face of Judge Jackson but for the whole United State Judicial system. Whether we like it or not they have been convicted of a crime. Granted the case is under appeal but to commit the same crime again is IMO ludicrous. It is like I have been convicted of assault but I appeal. During the appeal process I assault someone else again. Stupid. Most Judges, whether they be at the appelate level or Supreme Court will take note of this behavior. I just do not see the logic.

I am not anti Microsoft but looking at a huge company making a significant announcement. I am trying to figure out if this move makes MSFT a formidable competitor to ORCL, SUNW, AAPL, Linux, etc in the internet space. It is obvious they dominate the pc platform against these companies.

Any assistance in presenting a positive or negative case is appreciated.

Thanks, Bob.
