Another story from the City course.

I have taken two people from work golfing this year. They had each played exactly one time before.

Now some may say this is sort of burden because you cannot focus on your game, but it was not. I learned from both of these guys. It was interesting to me to see someone work with a tool they had no instruction in how to use. Both people shot in the high 50's and did quite well. I only gave them advice when they asked (like in sand), and both played a few holes quite well. Try it sometime.

One last note. One of the two was not from this country. His homeland has produced exactly one world class golfer in its history and there are not many courses and it is quite expensive. The funny thing was that I did not have to tell him any of the unwritten rules of golf. He never spoke or moved when someone was hitting the ball. He picked up his putts when he was a stroke or two over double par. He tried to repair the fairways and the rough after he hit. He was basically just about the best playing partner I have ever had the pleasure to play a round with.

Now if just about half the players in my area could adopt half his manners we would all have a better game. Our culture sometimes leaves a lot to be desired.
