Uunet's chief, Mark Spagnolo, has stepped down as president and CEO to tackle "special projects," effective immediately. He will report to WorldCom chairman Bernie Ebbers. Spagnolo joined Uunet in 1997, and had been responsible for Uunet's overall business functions. Bob Hartnett, president and CEO of global accounts, will take on the additional title of president of Uunet.

Wrong. If the deal fails, Ebbers will do yet another deal, big on ego, small on sense, anger the regulators more, put the stock in Ebbers limbo for another 2 years. Best guess is the dog is dying a slow death, preceded by fits of institutions distributing. This is gonna look like MO.
