Re: <Kanadjian said that Hitachi's existing (single data rate) SDRAM would be charged a lower royalty rate because Rambus does not see that product as competitive with its own double data rate RDRAM.>

Interesting statement. It would be interesting to know the various fee's.
If the industry capitulates to the Rambus IP it should result in unencumbered platform designs based purely on performance and/or cost. But for the next couple of years, IMO, SDRAM will continue to have major share. (For example, the i810 and i815E should enjoy a fairly long life. Look how long the 440 family has lasted). It appears that the i815E gives equivalent performance to the i820. The value segment will be quite happy with SDRAM for some time, I think. And those chip sets that support both SDRAM and DDRDRAM may be ideal solutions for many applications.
Estimating the IP revenue stream requires a knowledge of the various royalties as well as mkt share of the memory chips by type.

GV,

I don't know enough about the law of the rambo thread, but it was easy to determine jimmie's definition of "credibiliy". Funny how the law of the rambo thread is similar.

Wish I could have sold this POS in the aftermarket yesterday. I'm still long rambo.
