the ia64 itanium has simultaneous triple instruction processing no? very interesting. if so i would consider this to be 'true multitasking' on a 'single cpu.' in any case if you're a developer reading this you can get an itanium and a $100,000 grant from intel if you can approach them with what they consider to be a viable software project for the 'platform.' i learned this when interviewing for the 'itanium team.' hey it didn't work out but gave me an interesting look inside intel. andy
