Found this on RB as an answer to questions about the surge yesterday in VLNC. Was this posted by anyone from this board? Enjoy! By: Dennis_V1 Reply To: 1868 by SuperSam Thursday, 22 Jun 2000 at 10:12 PM EDT Post # of 1875 I guess its normal to be curious, although, personally, I would only be worried if the stock dropped 5 points on no news. That's why I'm bemused at the worry circle around this upside move. I've posted a lot recently why this is such a promising company, yet the questions continue. My words are like the clouded breath swirling in a cold breeze. Others might feel the same. Who here didn't know that this stock was coiled to maximum tension? Who didn't know about the well attended conference hosted by CIBC and the resulting whispers? Who didn't understand the import of recent conference calls? Who didn't read reports by hard working investors concerning the contracts, technology, the factories and production yields? There is a direct correlation between the comments made by company officers, investors, the company's progress and resulting stock movements. Yet, when that occurs to the upside, many seem taken aback. What? When? Who? How? Yikes! It seems to be a shock or revelation. The main problem is that they can't seem to grasp that the stock will move without a preannouncement of some kind. "OK, we all have copies of the announcement, now, move". Time and again, I've said this about stocks of this kind, 90% of the movement occurs in 10% of the time. Probably, someone will have some retort on this lecture..."yeah, but what about". ####, I really don't give a damn. If you want a mechanical explanation, go to Yahoo and check skyhi's post. Basically, a large buyer was around, others piled on and triggered stops resulting in short covering. MM's probably had to buy to hedge some options which added to the upside volume. The fact that the stock was artificially suppressed by manipulation added to the "buoyancy" effect. Anybody who thinks that 2,000,000 volume and 5 points when the NAZ is down 127 is simply technical in nature is deluded. The big buyer knows something. It's a no brainer. That's why he's big.
