Agreed, we are talking about the same action. The picture I'm getting is that the player is picking up the club too quick probably bending his elbows instead of a natural extension, rotation and sweep of his arms back to a 3 o'clock position. I se him getting too upright in his plane, chopping down on the attack and hitting it all over the lot. I'm not sure what you mean by side to side (cupping?) but the wrist action we are both (I think) talking about can be demonstrated by picking the club straight up in front of you and cocking the wrists toward you (ie: the clubhead is closer to your head than the grip). I found a pic demonstrating the release of the wrists which should be the reverse of what we are talking about.
