WR: Still confused as to how the data to and from the planes is actually transmitted. Note:

"The system uses Globalstar's geostationary-satellite network to transmit broadband Internet data and entertainment directly to and from aircraft."

But just how does this work? Thought G* LEO's could only handle very slow data rates.

Uplinks and downlinks seem to follow different paths on different systems. Is that so?

Are other Loral satellites involved in some way? Is this a data upgrade to the G* LEO system? If so could others use the G* LEOs for 200 to 800 k?

Have read and reread various releases and just plain can't figure out how all this actually works in the real world.

Help please.

Best.
