Chaz,

<< Do you have an educated guess for a timetable on any of the potential CDMA "smart cards" being commercially available for use in appropriately equipped CDMA phones? >>

Unfortunately I do not. It is my understanding that Gemplus has SIM cards capable of being delivered now and Schlumberger shortly with others to follow.

Question is the handsets.

Terry Yen presented in Bangkok in April and said end of year 2000 for China. There was also some reference to Philippines along the way. Presumably he was talking about GSM900/CDMA800.

I am wondering if the Qualcomm MSM5000 chip will support SIM/R-UIM? I have seen no reference to this capability but that does not mean that it was not incorporated. The MSM5100 due later, specifically calls out the capability, and I have seen references to Schlum developing on a member of the 3000 series platform (and presumably this was what Gemplus developed to).

Sorry I am not much help here.
