Me too.

Take a look at the MSM3300 Device Functional Block Diagram on the 2nd page of the product spec sheet for the (SIM/R-UIM enabled) Qualcomm MSM3000 chipset:

Imagine the lines of code that are encapsulated in "firmware" on this chip.

Likewise, a SIM/R-UIM card, where the GSM/CDMA Operating System (OS) is masked in ROM "firmware", while data and applications are stored in rewritable EEPROM.
