Again, we should be clear... there is a difference between intangible assets and patents. Patents have a value which can be derived in some fashion by it's implication in the market. What can not be measured is the expectations of future cash flows, market sizes, and penetration into those markets due to expertise and innovation. The argument becomes one of - should a company amorotize the incremental cost (over book) for these expectations which may be difficult to ascertain going forward?

btw: just a etiquitte comment... perhaps you shouldn't start your responses with "you are wrong". Just a suggestion - it doesn't come off well. I know - I've done the same thing in the past.... but it doesn't make for good discussion.
