My answer must be a weasley one I'm afraid - I'm not sure - same as my position on the death penalty.

In Massachusetts, where there is no death penalty, a 10-year old boy was kidnapped off his bicycle, raped and sodomized by two men, chopped up, stuffed into a foot locker and thrown into a river. These two men got life sentences.

I would have gladly pulled the switch.
