Re: Perhaps the press release was bait for Jerry

Ratbert,

I don't think Intel is stupid enough to push AMD, again. OTOH, the continued commitment to Rambus makes me think anything is possible from Intel management. Actually, I would say it's in Intel's best interest to stay put. The last thing they want to do is force AMD to volume release a 1.1 or 1.2 Ghz chip while their volume ends at 850 Mhz or so, with "limited edition" of the high speed chips. This would just be more bait for Mikey to call AMD, and that's the last thing Intel wants. Who knows, some recent moves by their management makes you think the PR department is running the company. I'm waiting to see what happens to DRDRAM prices this fall. According to the guys on the Rambus thread, DRDRAM is in about 1.7% of computers being shipped (who knows, they also claim DDR is dead and that AMD will be out with Rambus chipset this fall). Samsung is going from 3 million parts to 5 million parts. Others are ramping, but not much. Is this going to be enough to support Willy? I doubt it, unless it's REALLY limited volume. Heads are gonna roll at Intel if DRDRAM prices skyrocket this fall.
