Never said short term, by Fall.

I sell any stock that would make me this ill. There is such a thing as psychological return and I feel you are taking losses in both arenas.

You know, now that I'm long QCOM again, I hate to say this. Given the run up last year, I'll bet management is thinking about what all the money they have made on their stock options and debating when to cash out, rather than keeping their eye on the ball. Remember, even with the recent decline, this stock has had a tremendous run and there must be some very wealthy people over there.

That said, I think this is the wrong time to panic and be upset about this stock. The way you feel is just the way I felt about my VIGN stock a few weeks ago when it crashed from 100 to 23. I was just sick. So I bought more -- tripled my position at prices of 25 and 31, and now it is back to 52 or so.

Take the bile test. When you feel the bile rising in your throat as a holding drops, and you know the company is solid, buy more.

Keith...

This was the last day of the quarter, I'm sure there were many fund managers who offed QCOM today so that it does not show up on their list of holdings. We may see them scoop them back up in the next week or two.

Maybe you should just get rid of some, take a loss even, and just move on. Take a look at how you and many others got into this situation, write it off to education and look ahead.

Life is good, go climb a rock. Scott

Sell, take a trading holiday. Clear you mind for a month or more, then go through what you did wrong. Perhaps it's time to not follow the porch crowd around, find some other stocks in different areas, try zigo (I nothing about zigo, yet) think of areas where no one is following, it could be that many of the stocks that are followed on the SI are over own, over followed, the story is too widely know, last year idea's, stale if you will.

He is a basket of stocks that I'm following or invested in. JNPR, RBAK, AMSC, ZIGO, SGNT, AGLI, VRSN, ADAC, MTNT, PWER, RMBS, SDLI, JDSU, peb etc etc..

click on link then check out charts siliconinvestor.com

notice how some have moved higher nearly making new highs (I put a ton of money in to RBAK and JNPR they are now my largest holdings), now notice the others that are bottoming and starting to move higher. What I have been up to is buying bottoms, now I'm looking for the second wave as the others top out consolidate their gains.
If you are investing in last years names that haven't started to move yet, maybe there is too much baggage attached to them, and it's time to look for the second wave. The above is what I'm up to, please do not take it as comment against anyone that post on this thread.

Hey Keith

The telecommunications sector is a battlefield, man! Qualcomm is taking on the GSM forces almost singlehandedly.

Few of us here had the foresight to comprehend the significance of the time gap here to 3G. This has given the GSM folks an opportunity to throw W-CDMA up in the air to divert attention during this time gap.

Qualcomm is a fantastic company. AOL experienced similar problems 3 or 4 years ago. Stock prices regarding companies that are not "blue-chip," conservative mutual fund holdings do not necessarily indicate a company's realistic future potential.

Just wait for HDR to roll out, Keith. In the meantime, maybe Ollila at NOK is going to publicly flog some of his key execs for letting NOK get so behind in CDMA. Maybe we'll see a few bald heads rolling around on Helsinki streets this weekend. <ggg>

Keep your sense of humor, buddy. I know this has been a disaster. But nobody ever said Wall Street was easy.

Just porchin'
John
