I'm happy our freedom of assembly has been protected. (At least for a little while) No one takes Gumbel seriously anyway. What does the "GO!!" at the end of your posts mean? I love how you turn a phrase - great stuff!

We all are most certainly NOT all one, imo. I am not one with you, for example. No one has a "right" to anything. Rights are merely constructs of society. If a group gathers together and decides to acknowledge rights "ABC" then you have rights "ABC"- it isn't like rights exist in some sort of right heaven where they exude the pure perfect essence of rightliness. So people have the "right" to their opinion on SI so long as it doesn't violate the Terms of Use (for example)- but people certainly don't have the right to be respected for their opinions no matter how stupid they are. I've never seen any society give THAT right to people. I was saying What a F*cking Idiot long before Bryant. I would be stooping if I tried to suffer fools gladly- I will not and never will suffer fools gladly. I cannot see any merit in coddling or condoning what I consider stupidity. I certainly can't stop you from spouting off the stuff you are spouting but I don't agree and I don't have to respect you- and you can't make me. Although I might pretend to respect you if you had lots and lots of money and were willing to give some of it to me. I CAN be bought.

It is patently not "the truth" except in some poetic/sentimental sense that one might feel elevated stipulating. Unfortunately, what makes one feel good to proclaim is often not what's true. Probably it's rarely true, except partially.
