Most people are moderate, but not vocal- which pisses off extremists left AND right- who always complain (loudly) about how "they" are not represented. And I agree with you- "they" aren't "represented" because a capitalist country is VERY democratic- the majority rules, and gets what it wants, because that majority is willing to pay for it. And what they are not willing to pay for (extremism) gets marginalized. If extremism turns mainstream and becomes popular- the extremists (left or right) move on- further to which ever way the society is going, still complaining loudly.<p>
All hail capitalism and democracy.

Do you really think Matthews is conservative? He used to work for Tip O'Neil, and he strikes me as a Scoop Jackson Democrat, about as middle of the road as you can get. I like him a lot, he is refreshingly honest. My only complaint is he fawns over John McCain. I don't think he condescends to the social conservatives, but he treats them with respect, as he does most of his guests.

I used to think the majority of Americans, at least in flyover country, were mostly conservative. But I'm thinking now that too many are fat, dumb, and happy, and willing to be led by the nose.

I don't think it is possible to start a genuinely conservative or libertarian network as long as the airwaves are overseen by the government.

Hi Two-door! Having any luck getting geezers evicted from their homes in your neighborhood of choice? Re the press -- are you so dim that you think their role is to represent the views of the people? They're supposed to dig up the facts and report them truthfully!

One would gather from your post (as usual)-- if you ain't from California, you ain't squat.

Is it true that Oliver Stone's next film will blow the lid off the secret behind the Reagan landslides that were accomplished in spite of winning only a few Bible Belt states?

Please write again, soon.

Mike

>>>We do have one popular show with a clearly conservative bent - that is Chris Matthews and even HE condescends to the social conservatives - what does that say? <<<

Chris Matthews is a prototypical "bleeding-heart liberal." He just hates Clinton.
