Re: Tried to get full load of 768Mbytes?

Hi Ali,

I've got an Abit Ka7 with 2 gigabytes of SDRAM on it. And it has been very solid. (it's dealing with a hardware software key on it, too). The KA7 uses VIA's chipset, so far, so good.

It was run with the FSB overclocked to 107/214 taking the 850 to 910MHZ for testing and it ran flawlessly. So I'm pretty confident that at 850MHZ the machine will be very solid.

We've been having far fewer problems with our AMD servers than the old Intel servers. But, in all honesty, I think that's due to their running NT SP4 and higher or Windows 2000.

Although, come to think of it, the one system that's been a bit flakey lately is running NT4 TSE - on a Pentium II. But I would still point the finger at Microsoft before I'd point it at Intel.

VIA's not so bad.

Regards,

Dan

Hello Ali,

Re: "How have you determined that your systems are "100% solid"?"

Did you try to turn off air conditioning in your office (or lab)?
Yes.

Did you try to change supplier for your PS?
Yes.

Supplier for your memory?
No.

Tried to get full load of 768Mbytes?
Yes.

Loaded all your PCI slots with heavy-consuming cards?
No.

Ali, how many business platforms pass all of (or even most of) these tests? Not any I've ever encountered, yet they work day in and day out world wide. Is it your position that in order to obtain business SKUs, these tests must be passed?

Kindest regards,
CrazyMan
