You may be right, but I look at the numbers and see a different story. Applications growth is high even before the release of 11i, database license growth has been temporarily depressed by change in sales organization/tactics, and the company is moving out of the consulting business (which was hurting license sales in big 5 accounts). I think that the stock may sit here until next quarter, but I expect big numbers and a full pipleline exiting the quarter, and that's when the stock will start back up. I've been wrong before, but lately with ORCL I've been wrong by expecting too little growth...

re:PE. You pay more for a quality stock like ORCL. You can have tons of cheapo Munis at dirt price. Are they really cheap? Some cheapos like IFMX does not have PE @ market cap $1.31 bil, are they really worth $4+? I don't think so. You have to look at other factors than just PE. How risky is it? ORCL is so solid that you can sleep well at night. It won't drop 37% over night unlike IFMX.

Re; Lane's role. It was good for ORCL and Lane for 8+yrs. The question is, is ORCL going down without Lane? I don't think so. LE has been "hands on" for the past 2 yrs. If LE resigned ORCL today, I might have to reconsider ..., although nobody is indispensable. I'm sure LE will groom somebody to replace him when the right time arrives. We say in Korea, "Once you crossed the river, don't try to carry the boat with you for land travel. Leave the boat behind for your next trip."

Have a nice holiday!

Regarding IFMX - I'm man enough to admit I make mistakes

Yeah, and shorting a stock that just beat the street by 6 cents amid record backlog proves you're also consistent.

Marq and everyone else,

What's ORCL's PE? Is it really 115?
