Ok, I've a question for this thread, or soliciting responses. My question is for the turn-arounds in ones game. I, at one time, was a golf hack. I couldn't break 90 even though at times I could hit the ball fairly far, and was a decent putter, I just couldn't score well. I was frustrated because I knew I could do it, that is play well. Two things began my turn around when I was about 28 years old:

#1- Turned to self hypnosis.
#2- Funny thing but I think it was very instrumental; i.e I would warm-up before each round on the practice range and the putting green AND (most important) I would go directly back to the practice range and putting green right after the round and work on what failed during the round.

In less than 1 year I got my handicap down below a 4 and shot a career round on Torrey Pine North, of 70. In the years since that, I've had 1 offer (honest) to be sponsered for the tour ( turned it down, felt I was too old to be just starting that career. I've been approached several time and was asked if I was a tour player (this has happened more than once, but the time it sticks out most was when I was preparing for a round at Pebble Beach and someone asked me that, it really tickled me!

This is not to brag, and not only for those who've established a low handicap. I even want to hear from those that used to shoot 120, and can now break 100. What was it that did it for you?

Jim

P.S>- I'm 46 now and my wife wants me to plan for the Senior Tour (currently a 7 hcp, I didn't break it to her that she'ld have to get a job, hehehe.

Mark, re: "what Notah does makes a heck of a lot more sense"

I know I have about 100% more confidence in a hook putt than a slice putt. I don't know how much confidence I would have putting from the wrong side of the ball. Next time I play with a lefty, I'm going to give it a try.
