Why couldn't you pull the engine computer (complete with software) and sell it? Don't junkyards do that every day?

Was not talking about selling copies of any software just the original. Is it really illegal to pull the chip from one car and transfer it to another? It would be illegal for me to download the car's firmware and start burning new chips to sell, that is for sure.

Michael--To most folks watching the DOJ trial, the MSFT lawyers did look pale in comparison to the government lawyers.
