Re: How do you like that! RAMBUS is now the reason for the DRAM shortage!

A line that was producing 8 million 128mbit SDRAM die per month (enough for 1 million PCs per month) will produce 8 / 1.4 (die size difference) / about 3 (yield difference) or about 2 million rambus die per month. Enough RIMMs for 250,000 computers. They other 750,000 computers are now without DRAM of any kind.

Jozef:

Re: "Can you explain?"

Comment: Nothing in the SSB report to explain it, other than year out generally negative projections (which will prove incorrect, imho) for the semiconductors...Sort of the same effect, only in reverse, as the stream of promises from INTC since last October about how the PWeeIII was about to flood the retail market with 700 MHz's and above...

Everybody jumps on projections as being a given...even when they don't stand up under scrutiny!!!

Just glad AMD makes their statements by performing (wait 'til today's sellers get hold of the July 19 results)...Three weeks out,and from a vantage point on much higher ground, AMD below $80, will seem an impossibility, imho...
