Sarkie, I am not sure if you consider what I have written to John Busby and Bryan Burdick to be personal attacks, but I will say that their treatment of these issues has been horrible from a business perspective. If you go through the Thinktank thread, I have been posting suggestions to Bryan about the reliablity problems as well as suggestions to help improve the reliability. I never received a response and they certainly ignored my suggestions.

As far as the privacy issues go, would you want a "sky colored winter footwear" person to know your real name?

I am not trying to trash SI. SI has provided a fantastic online community for me and I consider at least one SI employee to be a friend. I am not trying to burn the neighborhood either, I am just trying to make the best overall decision for myself.

I am saddened to see my neighborhood go down hill and the value dramatically drop while the reprobates and derelicts move in.

OUCH! That hurt! <g>

On a more serious note, I agree with most of what you say. In between the management-bashing, I wrote a similar post about how it felt like I moved into a great neighborhood and then the city stopped picking up the trash, plowing the streets etc.

What I am extremely bothered by, though, is that we now are in Day 6 of an obviously serious problem, and there has been no communciation from SI to the membership/content providers and, worse, public denials from management which are just not true. I don't need to go into detail to prove that point.

I love this place too, not just this thread but the whole place. I can't even begin to describe how much I missed it when circumstances required me to leave for a few months. If the current inhabitants of this thread, or many of them, move, that will not solve anything. For the vitality of the thread derives from the ability of the SI community to keep providing new and interesting participants. A "new" service, or any other service, could not hope to provide that.

I am at a loss here. It is not my nature to lie here and take what is being dished out. I am not the sort of laboratory rat who, after being bashed over the head a couple of times with a mallet, would just lie there and let the bashing continue without trying to get away or change the situation somehow. I cannot fathom why nearly six full days and nights have elapsed and not one credible statement has been made by management about this (I am not talking about SI Bob here, who is doing his best but is clearly not on the bridge of this ship; he's down in the hold trying to empty out the water one bucket at a time.)

Personally, I plan to stay and do everything in my power to help in the restoration.

I agree with you. The question is, "how?" Notifying the news media was within my power, and I did it, probably many others did too. It didn't work. Notifying lawyers was within my power, and I chose not to do it. What else is within my (our) power?

Sarkie,

95% of us Will stay but there is nothing wrong with asking a few questions. I for one question why SI has not been more honest about the problems. All I and most people want is the length of time it will take to fix this problem. I agree that we shouldn't bash but bashing in part comes from lack of information - That is SI's fault!

Hi OT Piffer's.... my first post here, but always enjoy this board....Sarkie, you said it just so well....THANKS! I offered some of my thoughts on another board a bit earlier...SI (hopefully) isn't going anywhere but up...This situation has been so hard to understand, and while upset at the user names being shown, it would be my belief that the SI employees were working all weekend trying to get the beast untangled. And for that, I personally would like to thank them.
Best, KLP
